Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: We do a lot of groundwork before ever getting on the horse or hitching it to the carriage, that way there are no holes in the training that pop up later, that are a nightmare when people try to rush through a horses training. We use a training method that incorporates both discipline and reward which has many advantages. many trainers will do reward only or discipline only, the result of just reward is a spoiled brat that ends up being boss over the owner, and if you have all discipling then you get a fearful, sour or angry horse. But if you mix both discipline and reward with the right mixture and you are just, you end up with a horse that knows it has to do what you tell it but at the same time it will want to do what you tell it as a friend. We enjoy dealing with horses and their owners, which makes training horses a very enjoyable and relaxing job, (why should you have a job that you don't enjoy?)

We brought a horse, and our daughter to Joe Wiggins for training at liberty, and to build their confidence together. Joe exceeded our expectations. He continues to give our daughter the information and experience she needs to make smart, and safe, riding and training choices. Having little knowledge of horse maintenance, we were needy clients. Joe has been generous with his knowledge and has gone out of his way to make sure our daughter understands new or challenging concepts. Joe is patient, kind and obviously cares about his clients, both horses, and people. He has been able to encourage our daughter to overcome some of her fear, with out pushing her beyond what she can handle. Joe is humble, yet highly capable and confident. I trust him with my daughter and our horse 100%. Joes ability to train horses can only be explained as it truly is, a gift. In addition to the exceptional training we have received from Joe, his family members, also horse trainers, have all been amazing help to us. I trust each and every one of them.

I'm extremely happy with the training that Joe did with my draft horse. He was thorough in explainly the process and including me as well. I've worked with a lot of trainers but I felt that Joe got the results I was looking for without extreme measures. Now I have a horse trained for driving, riding and At Liberty with really great ground manners done safely. I highly recommend!

We were so thrilled with the entire Wiggins family and the amazing job they did with our precious pony, Molly. Not only did they teach Molly to be a wonderful little pony under harness, but they taught our entire family, especially our 8 year old son, how to enjoy Molly's newly acquired skills. A special thank you to Johnny and Joe who showed a little boy that it is "cool" for boys, and not just girls, to love horses. I wouldn't hesitate to send another horse their way!

I was blessed with 3 months of wonderful training for my 3 year old Friesian Mare. She learned to Drive, bow, work at liberty... Amazing stuff. I have never seen her be more attentive. She is truly a different horse. Its almost like she is proud of the things she learned. The work is not only beautiful, but my mare seems to really enjoy it. The Wiggin family not only established a training program that I can follow, but they showed me how to have a partnership with my horse. Thank you so much Wiggin Fam. God Bless.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Starting horses that have never been handled or had any tack on them, and also fine tuning horses that have previously been trained.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure that you have a goal in mind before you request to have your horse trained! If you don't know what options you have in setting a goal, don't be afraid to ask a trainer what they are capable of teaching your horse and how long they think it will take. A horse trainer's job is to figure out the best method and then implement it in order to obtain goals set by the horses owner.
