Jose agreed to finish the single piece backsplash installation for $250 including material. Prior to that, I have checked with him to add more depth to the backsplash piece to cover the gap introduced by existing quartz countertop. He is as talking about more work involved and I confirmed with him that we can talk about updated rate once he is onsite. After finishing the work, he called me for inspection where I noticed he finished the work totally in a different way(ugly according me) than I asked. He extended the backsplash beyond the countertop and rather than doing an ankle cut, he cut it straight leaving a noticeable gap . This was caulked.(see pic 3). So net effect he did something I didn’t ask for. There were some sharp edges on the main quartz countertop and he sanded it other than backsplash installation. (sanding lasted 2-3mins max). Total job lasted for merely 30mins. Now come to the rate part, he asked me $500. First of all this is not how I wanted this to be done. He didn’t consult with me this high rate prior stating the work. We both agreed to $400 later. Truly I feel like he was milking money from me for this poor job. I just wanna say a few works about this pro. The way he cut the quartz clearly shows he do not know what he is doing. That shows his poor quality of work. Now come what he did and what he commit. He didn’t even check with me when he took a detour, and didn’t even tell me his updated high rate before doing it. Finally regarding the rate, I got a feeling like he is trying to milk money. That is not what a real professional should do. I just wanna share this to thumbtack customers.

Hi Sreejith sorry for the inconvenience. I called you to see the final project and you said it was good I tried fixing something that I clearly dint install. The whole project was done by someone that stole your money I just installed one of the backsplash and I understand you are upset about your project not being as perfect but that is up to the person that install the countertops. I clearly told you I dint want to do a half job and you insisted. The reason I charged what I did it was because I made cuts that are usually done in the shop I did them in your house. Sorry once again for the inconvenience.
