This is the first time I’ve used Thumbtack and I’m glad I did because of Eric and Top Gun Plumbing. I had recently had our furnace moved from a closet in the hall of our smallish rambler into the attic so that I could move the washer and dryer from the garage into that space. I wanted a quality installation that looked like it had always been there, but the small space and existing framing presented some challenges. Eric’s bid was fair and reasonable and he showed up on time to begin the work. We had slightly different ideas about how the job should be done, and in all fairness I was not as clear in explaining my vision and didn’t understand the challenges of my request to have the plumbing concealed in the wall. Eric was patient with me, and explained why what I wanted wasn’t possible, but rather than adopting a “take it or leave it” approach, we collaborated on the project and came up with a solution that we both believed would work. That solution required significantly more work on my part to redo the framing and move the condensation line from the newly installed air conditioner in the attic and, again, Eric was very patient with me and we rescheduled for two days later so that I would have time to get the space ready for him. Eric arrived promptly and on time again, took a look at the space, and went to work. He initially had planned to locate the drain for the washer farther to the left than I wanted because of space constraints, but when I explained that I really needed the drain and supply lines behind the stackable washer and dryer, we again collaborated on a solution. Because I was asking him to do considerably more work than he had initially quoted me, I told him that I understood the challenges that he was facing and offered to pay him more to get what I wanted. I also appreciated that he had to make two trips to the house because of the additional work that I needed to do to prepare for him, and that he was willing to work with me to fulfill my vision. He worked diligently to deliver on my requests and when he was done I had exactly what I had hoped for. I had another bid on the project, but I’m not sure that anyone else would have been as patient and thorough in explaining the challenges of what I wanted and then delivering a final solution as competently and professionally as Eric did. I would hire him again for any of my plumbing needs and would always recommend him to anyone looking for quality work at a fair and reasonable price! The attached photos show the “before” and “after,” and illustrate the challenges of fitting everything into the very tight space that was available. Top Gun is top notch!
