FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have a flat rate of $100/month, for weekly lessons, either 30 or 45 minutes long. I prefer teaching 45 minute lessons, but some very young students can only last a half hour.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I subscribe to Strings, and am a member of several organizations, including the Music Teachers National Association, Washington State Music Teachers Association, National Association for Music Education, and the American String Teachers Association. I have also been working on my Master of Arts in Education. I should graduate in 2013.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've been playing violin since I was 7, and always loved it. I student taught under the direction of my teachers in high school, and while I enjoyed it, I never thought I'd do it for a living. After graduating from college (in Zoology, no less), I was working part time retail and needed another job. I thought, "what can I do?" Well, I could teach. I started teaching again in 2008, and remembered how much I loved it. Now, it's my main form of income.
