I spent the last 12+ years as a union carpenter. My formal training was in rough carpentry (concrete form work). I spent the last 3-4 years of my union career as a finish carpenter doing T.I. work (tenant improvement) which meant that the areas I was working in were occupied. I have a great deal of training and certifications which include having my OSHA 30 card along with many more safety and industry specific certifications. I take the utmost care when working in someone's home, I treat it as if I'm working on my own home or family member's home. The quality of the work produced by Shimada Contracting is and will remain at a standard that you will see in union-built buildings.

Matt was fantastic to work with. He had a reasonable bid and asked great questions when we met. His communication is great, he talked me through different parts of the work, and was here when he said he would be. I always felt like my project was in good hands. Matt had his work cut out for him, the first person working on it made a lot of mistakes so I fired them and reached out to Matt. He did an excellent job of correcting those mistakes and producing a beautiful building that matched my vision. I will definitely be working with him again in the future!
