I spent the last 12+ years as a union carpenter. My formal training was in rough carpentry (concrete form work). I spent the last 3-4 years of my union career as a finish carpenter doing T.I. work (tenant improvement) which meant that the areas I was working in were occupied. I have a great deal of training and certifications which include having my OSHA 30 card along with many more safety and industry specific certifications. I take the utmost care when working in someone's home, I treat it as if I'm working on my own home or family member's home. Matt was fantastic to work with. He had a reasonable bid and asked great questions when we met. His communication is great, he talked me through different parts of the work, and was here when he said he would be. I always felt like my project was in good hands. Matt had his work cut out for him, the first person working on it made a lot of mistakes so I fired them and reached out to Matt. He did an excellent job of correcting those mistakes and producing a beautiful building that matched my vision. I will definitely be working with him again in the future!

Shimada Contracting gave me bid for $6229.26 to repair approximately 180 sq ft of drywall.
The first day he showed he dropped off what looked like enough supplies to do over 1000 square feet of area then left. When he showed up each morning, his routine included using our bathroom for 20-30 minutes before he began work. During the course of construction he stated that he needed three more sheets of 5/8 drywall and I quickly asked why? He did not give me a good answer and I told to use what he had. He didn’t buy 3 more sheets of 5/8 drywall and had plenty left over today more than finish the job . He left the job unfinished as the pictures demonstrate.
During the course of construction repair he tracked drywall dust everywhere and didn’t clean up after himself.
He also left our house a mess.
We paid him in full and held up our end of the bargain, he did not hold his end.
