FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Continuing education is required in order to renew my certifications. The most credits come from a few yearly conferences and expos I attend which provide the latest science, information, and strategies in lecture and hands on settings in the area of health and fitness. I am also required to periodically take tests on new and existing material which I receive credit for upon passing.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Generally my clients come to me because they want to exercise and get in shape but they don't know how to do it because they have some sort of medical condition or injury they have to consider. I do a lot of work with people who need to overcome or prevent aggravating an injury or people who have other medical conditions or limitations. On the other end of the scale, I frequently work with clients who are seeking high intensity workouts, whether for weight loss or for other goals.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I met with a man who has Multiple Sclerosis, a disability where the immune system attacks the protective sheath covering the nerve cells. He was fairly advanced in his condition, with postural and gait issues and unable to walk even with a walker. He wanted to walk his daughter down the isle at her outdoor wedding in 6 months time. We started with simple exercises and progressed to being able to walk over 1000 feet on uneven terrain with the assistance of a walker. The result was that he walked his daughter down the isle, with the assistance of a walker, without falling or missing a step. This was an extremely happy moment in their lives and one that I was proud to be a part of.
