Introduction: I work with clients whose issues include interpersonal or relationship difficulties, depression, grief or loss, anxiety, trauma, infidelity (either the faithful or the unfaithful partner), anger, difficulties with parenting, and questions of faith or confusion regarding one's current or future life situation. Having married later in life, and now with a step family and a trans-racial adopted son, I am also experienced with step-family issues, adoption issues and women's issues. I tailor my approach with each client, drawing on a skills-based approach in conjunction with an educational component to equip clients with the tools that help them address their life circumstances. I use practice and homework to strengthen foundational skills such as communication, emotion management, coping, parenting, etc. For those clients who are interested, I take a biblical (Christian) approach, although I am happy to work with persons of any faith. When appropriate, I also incorporate the modality of lifespan integration and healing timeline to address troubling memories that may persist in a client's life. It is my hope that clients gain from counseling specific tools they can apply to their lives, so that they feel better equipped to deal effectively with their life circumstances. I am a provider for most major insurance companies, including Regence, Premera, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, First Choice, KPS, PacifiCare, and Value Options.
