Alex and his crew just finished painting the exterior of our house. The job looks great. They were professional, prompt and courteous. I would use them again. We had been putting off having our home painted because we having trouble getting referrals in the Kingston area. Thumbtack provided the referral and after talking to Alex when he came out for the estimate and decided to use his company. we are very pleased that we did.

I chose Alex for my deck repair/paint job for two reasons. First, his explanations of the work when he saw the project in person made sense. Second, his contractor’s license with the state was current when I did an online check.
Unfortunately, I ended up having to ask Alex to have his team stop work after a couple of days. It was clear they didn’t know what they were doing - railing baluster replacement pieces not level and in some cases splintered, poor wood quality used for the baluster replacement pieces, not using stainless steel screws, etc. When I sent Alex photos of the problematic work and asked that it be be redone, the redo (done by the same workers) was still sub-par.
While Alex may have known how to do the job properly, the workers did not, and Alex did not supervise them to ensure they did good work. Also, I had issues with Alex’s responsiveness to my messages and questions about the project following his initial site visit.

Thank you for your feedback. I’d like to provide some context for future customers.
Our agreement was to paint the deck and replace a small number of damaged boards and balusters. Once work began, we discovered much more rot than expected. In many cases, it was more effective to fully replace pieces rather than repair them, and we replaced far more than the contract specified — at no extra cost — to ensure safety and durability.
The boards and balusters we used were the same type and style as those already on the deck, as discussed when we provided the estimate. The cost was calculated based on matching the existing materials, not on using lower-quality products. The original railing had uneven spacing from prior installations, which made perfect alignment difficult without rebuilding the entire system.
Unfortunately, I was away during the first stage of work. When I returned, I reviewed your concerns and offered to personally make corrections or find another solution. You declined, and I respected your decision. While it is disappointing to receive this review after offering solutions, we remain committed to quality work, fair pricing, and going above contract requirements when necessary to protect our customers’ homes.

We found Alex and his crew to be responsive, respectful, clean, kind, and thorough. We had a very tight deadline to have our exterior painted, and he ensured and executed our project completion. The initial paint color was incorrect (due to the stores error, not his), and he corrected it and stayed late (on Friday, no less) to make sure our house was ready on time. We would highly recommended Alex and his crew to anyone. So thankful for a job well done!
