FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our pricing is based on the square footage and age of a home. Older homes have had more opportunities to be remodeled and it's not always done by a certified professional, this is why having 20+ years of general contracting experience pays huge dividends as we know when systems require extra attention to details.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We want to find out our customers exact needs and then specialize an inspection and price that fits their individual circumstances. For most of us, a home inspection isn't a frequent purchase, so it helps to have a basic idea of what we as home inspectors actually do in those few hours we're at the site of your potential dream home. A home inspection is a non-invasive, non-technically exhaustive inspection of the home. What that means is that we go through the entire house, top to bottom, front to back, to make sure that your purchase is safe and sound. What we don't do is punch holes in walls, or take appliances completely apart, or rip up carpeting, things like that. Some things we'll do are: Test electrical outlets/switches/lights Examine visible plumbing/framing/electrical Take off access panels on furnaces, a/c units, electrical panels Test HVAC units and appliances Traverse roofs, attics and crawlspaces [when safe to do so] Check for proper ventilation and adequate insulation Examine fireplaces and chimneys All of these things are ways we can find things that may either create unexpected future expenses, or safety hazards. Again, we want to protect YOU. What does a home inspection involve? We also have training that helps us spot things like potential asbestos, lead paint, termite, or mold problems and things like these so that we can recommend the proper specialists to come out and make repairs if needed. Most of these things require special licensing, or a laboratory to officially report on, but with our training, we're able to prevent you from having to call out a specialist for every possible issue there could be. If we spot a potential problem in an area like this, we make sure you're taken care of.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
After over 20 years of General Contracting experience it has become second nature to realize most problems and issues a home may have even before we begin a particular project. Our pre-inspection research gives us information most other inspection companies fail to look for.
