Introduction: Our Musician-Educators are educated, experienced, and enthusiastic. With Tuned In you can rest assured that you are receiving top quality education from musicians that have been formally educated in music, and more specifically in their specialties of music theory, composition, songwriting and lyric writing, and improvisation. These musician-educators have vast experience teaching in both private and group environments, and most importantly, they are enthusiastic: music is a passion. At Tuned In, we don't just have musicians that teach music lessons, or teachers that play music. Conservatory trained musician-educators teach all of our classes and private music lessons. Our musicians have been trained in the art of music in conservatory, and have devoted their lives not just to making music, but teaching it. They teach not because they have to, but because they love and want to. Getting to know the people we teach.

My 6 year old daughter has just started taking piano lessons. She loves her teacher.(Which can make all the difference) It is nice that I can come and watch while she is having her lesson. This helps when we're at home and I'm helping my daughter practice. My daughter is young and has a hard time focusing sometimes, her teacher always gets her to focus in a kind and effective way. Her teacher has worked with us when we have had to change our scheduled lesson. There seems to be a good balance in her lessons between pushing my daughter and knowing when to, step back and go over things a bit slower. It has been a wonderful experience so far and I am excited about seeing my daughter grow up with music and her piano teacher in her life.

I love the Tuned In Academy! Sean-David is an amazing teacher and his passion for music is evident in his enthusiasm and teaching skills. I signed up for an 8 week KAB "crash" course in the hopes of learning some basic piano skills. I searched the local area, found the Tuned In Academy's purpose and goals very intriguing and the price was better than I had hoped for. I am delighted to say that I learned far more than I could have ever hoped for in 8 weeks, and I had a great time while learning. Sean-David is patient and makes learning fun, and I enjoyed the company of my classmates and the experience of learning in a group setting. My daughters and I are looking forward to the upcoming VOX Acapella summer session with Jenna, and I can only imagine that it will be a delight to learn from her also. I would highly recommend the Tuned In Academy for yourself or your family members. If you are looking for musical instruction in a fun, friendly atmosphere at an affordable price, the Tuned In Academy is the place for you!

Our son (12) started private trumpet sessions with Sean-David about 6 months ago. He (and we) couldn't be happier with the outcome. He is now also enrolled and enjoying TIA's brass ensemble program, too. We wanted to augment school band with some individual assistance and to broaden our son's experience with trumpet and musical genres generally. His technical and theoretical ability has improved remarkably in such a short time. More importantly is his enthusiasm and eagerness to play and learn. We are pleased to recommend Sean-David and TIA's program for other parents or people seeking a high-quality, affordable, personable music instruction.UPDATE DECEMBER 2018: Approaching 3 years later, and son is still going strong with Sean-David and TIA. He continues to learn, grow and deepen his ability and appreciation for trumpet and music in general. Most importantly, he independently reaffirms his interest and desire to continue his trumpet studies at TIA. We feel fortunate to have Tuned In in our area. We are happy to continue to highly recommend the TIA program for youth (and adult) music instruction.

I have two daughters taking music lessons at The Tuned In Academy, one is learning guitar and the other cornet. My experience with both instructors has been outstanding. Both girls are making significant progress and both enjoy going to their lessons. Sean-David and Rob are very encouraging to what their students want to learn to play which keeps them more engaged. I have nothing but praise for the entire experience and am so glad I found them. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone looking for music instruction.

Our son is in the Rhythm and Recorder class. He is loving it! Great communication by the teacher too so we know what to practice at home. I would highly recommend them.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

We are tuition based, this means that you can know ahead of time the rate you will be paying is fixed so you know what to expect. When you find a timeslot that works with your teacher, that is your slot. Lessons are weekly or twice monthly as you and your teacher agree upon, and the tuition will remain the same throughout. We do have regularly scheduled breaks for spring break, end of summer, end of spring, and two weeks at Christmastime. These breaks have been factored into our tuition costs already. There is a one time $15 registration fee.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

It depends on the student, but we will most often with a new student begin the first lesson with a thorough introduction to the instrument itself, then an introduction to reading music notation. Students with experience will usually begin by telling us about themselves and the music they enjoy, and then they will play something for us.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

All of our teachers are highly capable and qualified. Many are college educated with degrees from major universities and colleges. Even our associate and student faculty will still teach with the same fundamentals in mind as we are a team and all get together regularly on these essentials.
