The first month is great. then things go from bad to worse. they like to do things with out calling and asking or checking. i made a bunch of grain up for when we where leaving for the vet with medicine in them and they decided to feed them with out asking resulting in an overdose. if boards are not knocked down it takes hours and many calls to get them fixed even with the horses being togther. 6 horses have been injured because of the arena. there is a dangerous slope over time on the side where you can slip and get your leg or the horses leg caught. they have lost both of their trainners because of the maintinace of the facility and the attitudes of the staff. they take it upon themselvs to take your horse our without asking. then when you confront them about anything negative you get an earfull of swearing and rude language. and if you have any disagreements with the help the decided to stop feeding and watering your horse without asking. overall you cannot trust this place and that is the most important when it comes to people taking care of your animals

We have responded above regarding this person's remarks. Why, if she was so unhappy, did she return to board with us? We would have been more than happy to hear her concerns from the beginning and tried to correct them.

I have been riding at THE RIDING PLACE on and off for about 3 years, the place has a lot of area, good outside small trails to get a horse used to our NW weather, and rider used to small changes in the riding trails, with small streams and ponds, that have ducks and other birds , it has a nice round pen out side, This place has events for young and old that are interested in horses. The owners are on site almost everyday, They too have horses there, The box stalls are 12 x 12 and joined up with large runs for their outdoor time too They have a indoor arena that has a view room for comfort for those not riding or if you would like some snacks or lunch, a big tack room! 3 nice wash stall areas, matted and one can watch riders too! I have enjoyed joining up with other riders and doing team things for holidays and schooling events! Trainers come there and help us, and give seminars! It is some times a time for extra learning and lots of caring and sharing!

While I truly want to be able to ay good things, I just can't. As a previous poster has stated, it all starts out good then goes downhill from there and thats because you come to see, understand and get to experience first hand the owners. You don't want to believe it all a first but it all becomes true. They are cheap, know it alls who offer nothing but excuses when legit complaints and concerns are presented. The bottom line to this place is THIER bottom line. Lack of maintenance, failed arena footing, lack of feeding and cleaning and complaints from the owners that its just to expansive to do all of the above. Well then its time to retire...seriously, hang up the hat and get outta dodge. They shouldn't be running this place anymore they just don't care and the boarders and their horses are suffering because of it. Serious stifle injuries, arguments over 25 cent a day feed, unkept runs because they don't wanna spend the money to fix, poor customer service and treating their staff like crap that no one wants to work there... there is a reason they have empty stalls here and waiting lists elsewhere. Think about it.

While this person has written 2 reviews, it would be nice if they would identify themselves or have come to us (management) before becoming so unhappy. There are many exaggerated accusations in this review. I honestly don't know who this person is and would like to; perhaps then we could remedy many of these complaints. One thing that we would like to clarify is that we do offer self-care board as well as full care; this means that the self-care boarder is responsible for cleaning their own stall and run, and some do not which results into unkempt runs; in the winter with the massive amounts of rain we have had, the mud is difficult to avoid. The arena footing is sand & not failed; in fact it is kept up quite well. The staff has not complained to us or indicated poor treatment; we listen to concerns and do our best to take care of them. There are always two sides to any complaint and we do listen when the the customer comes to us.

The barn is not well kept. The runs are muddy, stalls are NOT thoroughly cleaned, the roof leaks, the arena is HARD and uneven. The owner Christine is a bit you know what. If she doesn't like you than you're screwed. She will go behind your back and talk c-rap about you and your horse. Frank is a great gentleman and is the best to ask for help. Everett, the on sight "manager" is a lazy man who does not do his job. This is a bad barn. The trainers keep leaving due to the owner(Christine) attitude. Don't board your horses here!!!!!
The Riding Place Equestrian Center's reply
This 'reviewer' is a young teen who loved our barn and moved to be with her new trainer. She had been a boarder with us for several years and has become a very accomplished young rider. She retracted these remarks on her Facebook page and admitted that she made these comments in error. She visits our barn on numerous occasions to ride with friends who board with us. Never had she stated (nor her parents) of the discontent stated above. We are very fond of this young lady and welcome her back when she visits.

Many instances of food tampering. I am horrified to read a review from 2012 that they stop feeding and watering your horse if you complain!! This is rampant! My horse was fed sand, a friends horse wasn't fed at all, two stopped getting water, one had their hay washed down with water. Disgusting care and treatment of animals.
The Riding Place Equestrian Center's reply
This person has publically self-identified herself as a 'loose cannon' among other self-incriminating remarks. There are many who know that these accusations are truly false. She loved our barn until she was convinced to go with two of her other horse friends to their boarding barn; immediately she made up these accusations as a 'reason' to leave without giving notice. When management did not agree, she slandered our name throughout the horse community.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Quality care for your horse; ask for references from our present or prior boarders. Ask if professional training or lessons are available. Ask what additional amenities are available for the horse or the horse owner. Make certain that an on-site caretaker is available.
