FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The pricing system isn't too complicated, but I do offer discounts for customers who are willing to roll up their sleeves and pitch in. There usually isn't much cleanup to be done with the blower service, but sometimes the bark dust can land on your porch or walkways, or get onto your landscape plants. If you are willing to handle that so I don't have too, I'll take $2 off per yard blown in. If you are willing to help me unravel the hose and move it around throughout the process, I'll take another $3 off per yard blown in. So, if you have a job that is 20 yards, you just saved yourself $100 by doing a little sweeping and helping me out. To put that in perspective, most 20 yard jobs I do I have done in less than 2 hrs, so it's like paying yourself $50 per hour helping me out... I wish I got paid that much!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I got my Bachelors Degree in Management in 2013. I had been pursuing a career in law enforcement, and had successfully completed my written, physical, and oral boards and was one easy background check away from working for Customs and Border Protection. That's when my Aunt called me and told me she wanted me to come check out the company. I have always like working with people and being out rather than behind a desk, so I decided to give it a try. I already had my CDL, so jumping in the big trucks and driving wasn't a problem, and I got the opportunity to live on the same farm that had been in my family for over a century. It was a tremendous career opportunity and the chance to raise my five children on a working farm to teach them some good hard working values and be a little more self sustaining. We haven't looked back since. Working for the company my grandpa founded has been a huge blessing to me and my family.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I do a lot of residential jobs for individual houses, but also have worked with HOA's doing some of their common areas or playgrounds with the fine cedar chips. Commercial jobs are also on my list of customers. Pretty much anywhere that you need bark, I can get it there, but most commonly I help residential customers.
