I’m Ayça Çetin, flutist and Assistant Professor of Flute at the University of Idaho. I’m passionate about sharing music through both performance and teaching, and I’ve had the joy of working with students from around the world at all levels — from beginners to aspiring professionals.
My performance career has included solo and chamber music across the U.S. and internationally, orchestral work, participation in esteemed music festivals, and collaborations with a wide range of composers and performers. I served as the Principal Flutist of the Panama City Symphony Orchestra for five years and am a sponsored artist with Miyazawa Flutes.
As a teacher with a doctoral degree in music and years of experience across varied levels and goals, I focus on practice efficiency, musicality, and injury prevention. My teaching style is flexible, holistic, and student-centered — designed to support your individual goals, musical growth, and personal expression.

My 11-year-old daughter has been taking flutelessons with Dr. Cetin for a year now. We previously took in-person lessons with another teacher, but we felt that her progress was much too slow. After switching to Dr. Cetin, we truly realized what a right decision we made—even though lessons are now online, the progress she has made has been incredible and her enthusiasm and interest in the flute have multiplied tenfold.
Dr. Cetin is the perfect balance of deeply compassionate and wonderfully disciplined. Without you even realizing it, she wins a student's trust through genuine warmth and naturally inspires them to practice with dedication and joy.
At the end of every lesson, she sends recordings of the pieces they played, expectations for the next lesson, points that need correction, and highlights of her progress.
Whenever my daughter needs extra help with her school band pieces etc., Dr. Cetin is always there to support her, making her feel completely safe and confident. Distance is no barrier at all when a teacher is this dedicated. We are so grateful to have found her:) Absolute highest recommendation!
