About
I work directly with clients to find a training program that focuses on their dog's individual training needs. I offer a variety of training options to fit any training budget. Board & Train dogs board in my home and stay with me throughout my daily routine. I work w/ a smaller number of dog so I am able to give personalized attention to each and every dog I train. I love working with dogs. I enjoy teaching dogs new cues and creative tricks. It's fun and easy to do. But it's extremely rewarding to take a dog who has numerous behavioral problems, a dog that most people would "throw away" and, through some hard work, gentle handling & lots of patience, transform that dog into a happy, well-mannered dog.

We have been working with April for a little over a month to train our rescue dog Milo. April is easy to work with and our dog responds positively to her. I like how she has goals for us to work on, but also addresses any issues we have with Milo during the week. I also appreciate that she comes to our house, so we can work on issues specific to our environment. I highly recommend April if you are looking for a dog (or people) trainer.

April Parke was beyond amazing when working with us and our dog Cooper. She helped give us the necessary training tips and strategies to keep Cooper grounded. Cooper thinks he runs the house and with April's help we were able to bring him back down to "doggy" level with the help of positive reinforcment. April is friendly and kind and you can tell first off she only wants success for you and your companion! I highly recommend Rowdy Rover Dog Training.

Having April out to our house was amazing. We have a 2 year old English mastiff who thought he ran our house. She was very professional and worked hard to help us understand what we were doing that helped in our dog's negative behavior. She was respectful and knew what she was doing. I would recommend her to help out with your dog. Since having April to our house our dog is much better behaved and when there is a problem we are able to understand what we are doing to contribute to it.

Just beginning our training relationship but so far excellent. Plenty of relative information pertaining to a variety of our 'furries' needs. I will update our review as our work continues with April.

My experience working with April was nothing short of amazing! My Doberman has been having some issues with over excitement and a lot of pulling while on the leash. April has helped to considerably change his habits and equip me with all the tools that I've needed to help my dog succeed! In addition to her high expertise training and vast knowledge with dogs. April is very punctual and respectful of your time. I thoroughly enjoyed our training sessions and will be seeking further training from Rowdy Rover Dog Training in the future once we have mastered the skills April has taught us. If you have been looking for a reputable, knowledgeable, and personable trainer for your dog. You found it! Thanks so much April!

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I earned my ABCDT from Animal Behavior College In 2010. I then worked to complete the requirement to qualify to take the CPDT-KA (Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed) exam through the internationally respected CCPDT (Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers). It is dedicated to the mastery of humane, science-based dog training practices. The CPDT-KA measures a broad range of knowledge and skills in ethology, learning theory, dog training technique, and instruction. Eligibility requirements: ? A minimum of 300 hours’ experience in dog training within the last 3 years. ? Provide a signed attestation statement from a CCPDT certificant or a veterinarian ? Sign and adhere to the CCPDT Code of Ethics CPDT-KAs are then required to stay current in their professioal field by earning CEUs through attending approved seminars and courses. (Its also worth noting that I have a Bachelors degree in Music Education from the University of Idaho. The basic concepts of positive reinforcement are the same whether a person is teaching kids, dogs, dolphins or even chickens.)
