We arranged for Curtis to trim the windows in our basement. He wanted to do the project hourly plus materials, which we agreed to. I sent him a clarifying email that we'd pay for any materials as soon as they were purchased and the labor upon completion (2 days). I know he received this email because he responded to it. He then sent us a contract with a fixed price for the whole job and a 40% deposit. When he showed up - about an hour late, without the materials to start - he said he didn't have money to buy materials without the deposit. His contract also gave him a week for 'substantial completion' when he insisted the job was 1.5 days, and he was very offended that we wanted the contract to reflect that. Basically, this was a bait and switch and we will be hiring someone else to do the job.

In response to this review. We did discuss working the project by the hour plus material and they did agree to. She did send an email stating that they would pay for the materials. But after much consideration after leaving their home I decided to send them a contract with a fixed price for reasons of my own. I was not late for I told them the day before that I was going to be finishing up a job and I thought maybe I would be there between 9-10 am. The time was not set in stone. When a contractor works from job to job we can only get close to what we think will be the time frame. I always try my best to show up on time. So we agreed that I would call before I left olympia: and I did. I called at 10:16 when I was finished with that job. I rushed to Tacoma without cashing my check from the first job. My account was empty. My bank is OCCU and is limited to where I can deposit. It would have been more than an hour to drive to Shelton. so I went ahead to Tacoma. When I called I asked if they received the contract. Allison said she did and never mentioned that she did not like the contract. I then assumed she was ok with it and drove up to Tacoma thinking I would pick up the earnest (Deposit) and go buy the material. They informed me when I arrived that they did not like the contract and wanted to know exactly how much the material would cost. I told them I was uncertain and that i would like to take some exact measurements so I could have a better idea. I also said that if they wanted to her husband could go with me to pick up the material and pay for it there. He then tore up the contract and said goodbye. So I left. Glad I did too. There insistence that the job be done tomorrow (August 5, 2014 and today is August 4, 2014) put such a rush on things that I was agreeing with them that the job could be done in a day and a half but I wanted a little room. I do not know what bait and switch is really; but if it is what I think it is. That was not the plan. Sorry, we could not agree on the terms of the contract. All I can says is whoever you are that gets hired I hope you get your money!

Curtis was very professional and did an EXCELLANT job. He put in a door to our master bedroom that did not already have a door. It looks as if the door was always there. We could not have been more pleased, and he did it all on a week. Highly recommend Curtis!! Thank you for a job well done.
