Introduction: About Blackout Sappy Genre: Post-Grunge Related: Kurt Cobain Description: "Blackout Sappy (Band) Post-Grunge" Why this name? Mainly, it was Kurt Cobain who inspired me; he had come to my school casually, sat down, and started playing acoustic songs from various albums. This was 3 months before he passed away tragically. After that, I dedicated myself to write music with passion, with the burning pain that I had; we had such similar backgrounds in growing up. We were both deemed "bipolar" by the doctors, but no medicine had any effect, and the gnawing pain deep inside the soul, that only Kurt and I knew. We seemed to be fated, so when he was gone, I've decided to do a solo project in, thanks. So, I chose the name Blackout Sappy, Sappy being a rare B-side track on a alternative sampler album entitled "No Alternative". It was a hidden track called "Sappy". The Blackout came easy, because I often have blackouts. Do you play live? Yes, at small acoustic venues. My genre is post grunge. Brief Bio: Blackout Sappy is a solo band, the artist's name is Nathan Alan. He writes all music, lyrics, sings all vocals, plays guitar, bass, and uses synth drum kits, and keyboard. How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry? I think it helps artists who wouldn't normally be heard, a voice. Would you sign a record contract with a major label? Sure, as long as I didn't have to compromise myself and why I play. I put everything into my music; to take that away is just not worth it, no price. Your influences? - Kurt Cobain - Elliot Smith - Bush - Linkin Park - Stone Sour - Slipknot - Mudvayne - The Doors Equipment used: - fender jagstang re-issue (designed by Authorized Kurt Cobain) - small clone (foot pedal) - big muff pie (distortion foot pedal/German) - Shure Sm-58 Pro Vocal Microphone Right now, whatever I can get my hands on, I'm working on rebuilding my studio. Final Notes: One day, my message, my voice, my music will be heard. I don't care if I get rich or famous from it, as long as people know what my life was all about in the end. We were a finalist in the Seattle, WA's Hard Rock Cafe "Hard Rock Rising" battle of the bands 2011.
