Started great, but was a waste of time. John came to my home to provide an estimate. He was friendly and knowledgeable. He sized up the work and ensured I had enough materials to do the job.
He suggested an alternative option for custom bull noses that may be cheaper for labor but that he could still complete it with my existing stair noses, it would just take longer. Mike (John’s dad) came to complete the work on the agreed upon date that I had requested time off of work for. He was over an hour late.
Communicating through a translation service on his phone Mike said that he couldn’t start the work because we needed to allow a minimum 24 - 48 hours before we could use the stairs. This was not communicated to us prior, otherwise we would have planned accordingly. While we planned on limiting any use of the stairs until the work was completed, we need to use the stairs to get in and out of our home.
Mike said we should reschedule and he left. Since we needed the work done my wife cancelled her appointment for that afternoon and I called Mike letting him know we could accommodate his requirement for us not to use the stairs, and asked if he’d please start the work. He said he was already on his way to another job and wouldn’t come back.
I rescheduled for August 19th. I texted yesterday to confirm he was good for August 19 and he said yes, but asked that I send pictures of the materials that he and John had already seen. Upon sending the pictures he said he does not work with non tongue and groove stair noses because he doesn’t like the way it looks, so I would have to change my materials or find a new contractor.
I’ve wasted over a month of time and multiple days of PTO to have 0 work completed and a new reason not to complete the work every time it’s scheduled. All of this could have been very easily avoided with more transparency. Do not recommend.

If you need something repaired call Lux Construction LLC!! John and his father are not only professional and knowledgeable but they are friendly and respectful! They repaired my shower, replaced a part on my dishwasher and did a couple of other jobs. They were efficient and timely. Two of the nicest men. I will call them for any job, big or small they do amazing work! Don’t hesitate just hire them!

John came on time, provided honest recommendations, and did an awesome job tiling our fireplace even though the backerboard, drywall, and even the flooring wasn't even. He was able to make it flush using shims and made it look really great. Look forward to working with them again on our next tiling project.
