Introduction: Many times there are small details in a project that have not been thought of in advance. Having been in this industry for almost 20yrs helps me ask the right questions to the client or bring things up they may not have considered. Meeting new people and the long term relationships that have been created over many years and multiple projects with clients.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

The technology in our field changes so fast now that you pretty much are taking classes or webinars on a monthly basis for different items. I recently attained my Residential Network Specialist Certificate. This is due to so many things being connected to or controlled via LAN. I also attend our industries annual trade show called CEDIA to see what new products are in the pipeline.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I originally worked in Industrial Automation and traveled around the country. With the birth of my 3rd child in 2000, I decided I didn't want to travel so much anymore and this was an emerging field at the time. The residential automation side was simply using what had been refined from the industrial side and so it was a natural fit.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Half of my projects have to do with Interactive security or security cameras. I think this is because so many people like the convenience of their smartphones. Being able to arm/disarm your security or know if you've left a door open via txt and checking your cameras is just something that most people have come to expect nowadays.
