Introduction: We install, refinish buff, coat and stain wood floors. We also install engineered, laminate and LVP (Luxury Vinyl Flooring). Old Town Hardwood has been in business for 20+ years. We do some advertising, but most of our work comes from you, the customer, referring us to friends, family, co-workers, etc. and writing reviews on any of the platforms online. As for experience, some of my guys have been with me for 20 years and are requested by name when people call for work to be done. We are stress free because its always done correctly the 1st time. The guys consider themselves flooring artists, and you will think so too when you see their work. This is especially important when matching old and new wood. These guys can make it look like the new wood was put in at the same time the 10-100 year old floors were put in or vise versa.It's up to you. These guys work with tint as well as stain. Sometimes if the color is light and the change is minor, we can save you the cost of adding a stain. But this is not the case most of the time I want to be perfectly clear, but we will try to save the customer money if we can. One last thing, if you are a DIY person, we will gladly explain what you can do to save money on the project and how much it will cost if our crew does it. The initial job was given to a worker who was having personal issues during the job. Thus the work took several weeks longer than projected (which when all of your items have been moved into a few rooms is a major inconvenience). Finally, they reassigned the work to Jermaine - who was excellent. I would give Jermaine 5 stars and their office worker (forgot her name) definitely 5 stars, but Sandy wasn't as responsive as he should / could be while I was having issues. They had to redo part that was done poorly by the initial worker and they did a good job working with me and prioritising it - and again, Jermaine is top notch.

Sandy Callison did an outstanding job refinishing our hardwood floors. He uses the most up to date equipment that ensures the floor is completely flat prior to finishing. We choose the Poly finish and we love it. It is much better than the Swedish finish we have had applied two times before.

We had to replace the carpet upstairs of my house. Sandy and his team were quick to submit the bid. They were professional at the beginning. They ordered all the materials quickly and had the installer in my house within a couple of days. The company guaranteed me completing my upstairs over a weekend timeline, except for the stairs, because they were waiting on materials. On day one (Thursday), things were great; they removed all carpet to have it ready for the following day. On day two (Friday), the first excuse from the installer, Tim, explained that he had to finish another job first and guaranteed me the next day. On day three( Saturday), Tim brought another installer, the guy began installing the floor, and after 3 hours of work and the rest of the time of him taking breaks and sitting in his vehicle outside, all he did was half a room. On day four( Sunday), both Tim and the other guy continued but did not complete on the weekend as they guaranteed me. For context, I was moving in that Monday. I had to move all of my furniture downstairs. After multiple excuses from vehicle problems, family problems, and the most annoying one, punctuality problem ( says one time he is going to be there but can't show up at the time he says), the job is still not done. There was multiple time when I shifted my schedule for the guy never to show up. When I called the owner, they would not answer the phone, and when I called the other gentleman, sandy, he did not remember who I was. This project began on 21 July 2022; as of today, 27 August 2022 is still incomplete. The owner has never contacted me to see how the customer is doing. I believe in customer service; if the owner cared about her business and 100% customer satisfaction, they would hire reliable people. This is the worse service I have ever experienced. Be aware!!!!!!! I can't make this stuff up. Look at the proof.

Omar, We regret the issues that happened with your install and hope that the refund we issued you showed how sorry we are about the conduct of this team member and that we do care about our customers. We believed, as you did, that this installer was working with you, as we had provided him with the parts necessary to finish your job. We only became aware of the real situation when you posted this review. For that I do believe we owe you a thank you because up until then, we believed in this person. Now he is no longer a part of the Old Town Hardwood team.

We had to replace our bamboo flooring in the entire downstairs area and Sandy's team did an outstanding job. He was very responsive with the bid process and followed up promptly on any questions. He ordered the flooring for us as well and the install was quick and well done. His team was very courteous, on time, and worked extremely clean. Excellent experience overall! Update in May 2019: turns out that our subfloor was not leveled as it should have been prior to install and we are now having problems with boards coming apart and lots of bounce in some areas. Contacted Old Town, not even looking for free work, but simply asking for an estimate to how much a fix would cost. One visit to look at the situation and a call to the manufacture and now no more responses to correct the situation. Referred at least two additional jobs and to now be left hanging is more than disappointing.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Not complicated. Jobs over 300 square feet are priced by the square foot. The variables are the species of wood, the type of finish, and the layout of the house. A large square room will be less per square foot than and house with small, tight rooms. Jobs under 300 square feet my by priced by man hours and not square footage
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We will get a phone call, email, online request, text, etc., make an appointment to go out to their home or business to do an assessment of their project and give the customer a rough estimate which they are welcome to photograph and then I will go back and get it typed up and get a professional proposal sent out. Sometimes the customer needs to still find their floor covering & in that case we send out the estimate with some blanks until those particular questions are answered but give them all the measurements. No matter what, the customer comes first.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our guys have been in the business for over 20 years. They are always trying out the newest products at the suppliers on sample wood we have left over and making sample boards for our customers. There is new literature posted in trade magazines and professional workshops. We are always adding to our knowledge.
