We wanted a brief consult from an experienced architect on the design of our home and potential options for renovations or additions. Paul came over at a time that was convenient for us (a weekend, no less), did a thorough walkthrough, and gave us sound, focused advice on options and how best to proceed. Highly recommend him.Jan 23, 2017Verified
We're building an Acessory Dwelling Unit and needed a site plan constructed in a short time frame. R&R design put together a site plan for us in just minutes allowing us to obtain permits without waiting weeks. He was hired after another architect bailed in the beginning stages of our project I would highly recommend R&R design for any home improvement or new addition project.Apr 12, 2016Verified
UPDATE 12/9/2018: Initially Paul was wonderful to work with, and he is still very nice, I will not say anything negative about him as a person, or his character because there is nothing negative to report. However, we have had nothing but issues with our blueprints since we started our build. Between Paul and the engineer, things have been rough as far as the county, the plans being over-engineered (entirely too much rebar and concrete in our foundation which cost us extra), the plans not being to scale and many things were left out of the plans all together. We are first time builders so we did not know any different so this is a warning to other first time builders, if you are building a custom home in Thurston County, Paul may not be the right architect for you. We are almost done with framing and while we have had to work with the plans we have (thank goodness for amazing sub contractors), I am nervous to see how the rest of the build goes. From the moment Paul walked in our door, he has been professional, personable, easy to talk to and he’s helped us design the exact house we need for our family! He’s reasonably priced and very responsive if we need help. I would highly recommend working with him!Dec 9, 2018VerifiedRR Design, LLC's reply
I have not received any comments from the city/county concerning the plans and no phone calls with questions about the plans. If anyone is curious to the type of work I provide. please ask me for the Casi M. residence plans as an example of the type of work I do. I work with a few Structural engineers and the one on this project was the most reasonable price for the timeline. If there are any concerns or questions about our plans I would like to know. We want to provide the best for our clients. Thank you
We had a short but great experience with Paul. This was our first house project and we were nervous about having a bad experience. Paul's transparency helped remove those fears by cc'ing us on emails to our general contractor and promoting an open line of communication. When he came out to the house for the initial visit he was respectful and listened to our inputs and concerns. He submitted a great first draft and we had only minimal comments which he addressed before his final submittal. The final set of drawings were delivered complete and on time. Months later, after some issues with our general contractor, he provided us with recommendations of reliable contractors to perform the construction of our addition. I would recommend Paul to anyone looking for a friendly, helpful architect especially if this their first project.Dec 13, 2018
Paul is very prompt and fair in his pricing. I’ve had him look at a few jobs so far and he does his best to please. I’ve been in business for over 35 years as a general contractor. First in California until 1989 then in Washington State since then. I would highly recommended him, his personality and his ability at being prompt and thinking about details and the person before him. I give him total thumbs up! - What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I charge hourly or per sq ft depending on the project.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I continue to train to be able to offer the most flexible and current designs. I am currently training in Revit (BIM), Sketchup pro and rendering.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I have been drawing houses since 12 years old and incorporating CAD at the age of 14. I am fascinated with homes and design because it is a persons relief at the end of a long day. Where a family can enjoy each others company and grow together.
