I contacted Melody with Salazar Custom Interiors on a bit of a whim as I had been contemplating what to do with our bonus room for a handful of years and had neither time nor inspiration. I had an overall “feel” that I wanted in the room but couldn’t seem to bring it together as there were a few odd architectural features and my goal was for it to be multi-purpose including the go-to movie room, exercise room and a study area for my kids. What I have liked about working with Melody is that she was immediately able to pick up on the feel that I wanted and gave me several options in her scope of work so she could be very involved or more loosely involved. From our initial consult, I had several ideas that I could have run with but I knew I needed more guidance. She has been very detailed creating several story boards on-line that make it easy for me to say “like” or “dislike” until we come to an agreement. She also has great connections with furniture companies and I did compare and am saving money on the same pieces I bought through her, as she shares the discounts she’s established. This savings alone, offset her design fees. Her color choices are fantastic. The paint alone has dramatically changed the room and this is something I could not have done without her. I was Melody's Realtor in Texas for years before she moved to Washington. She has such a gift of creativity and a way of making four ordinary walls look like they stepped out of a designer magazine. Melody did all my staging work and has done redecorating at both my personal home and at my daughters. She has a way of pulling everything together and making it look coordinated, stylish and aesthetically interesting. Since Melody has been gone, I have not found anyone who can do what she did for my clients. I still rely on her for advice and I know how lucky you are to have access to her in Washington.

Melody Salazar was an absolute delight to work with on my house project. She has great vision for "seeing" the possibilities in a space. I needed to utilize some existing furniture pieces & she blended those in seamlessly. She brought a tremendous amount of creativity. She suggested colors, ideas, & layouts that we never thought of or imagined. At the time that Salazar Interiors came into our lives, we were in a new custom-built home that had a lot of problems with the flooring. Melody saw the project through with the floor change and completely decorated our home with new floor, new furniture, and window treatments. Our home finally has the polished and comfortable feel that I always wanted. The compliments from guests just keep pouring in! We feel that we got great value for the money we spent. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For my consultations, I charge $100 hourly but only charge for the time I'm in your home. One hour minimum, after that 15 min segments.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It all starts with a consult where I can offer advice and suggestions that answer your design questions. If you need help implementing those changes, I have unique, to the trade sources for everything!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Studied at the University of St. Mary's in San Antonio and earned my accrediation in 1991.
