Today I had my first lesson. It was an experience of a lifetime. Carolyn was amazing her attention to detail you know your in safe professional hands.I enjoyed the whole experience,everything was hands on from start to finish ,Everyone was friendly and as a beginner I felt comfortable and welcomed. I look forward to learning from the best and learning a new animal language and to know how to properly ride a horse.

Very knowledgable, patient instructor. Teaches you all about the care and way a horse thinks, and why you should do things as a rider. I feel I will be able to ride any horse with any type of tack.

Carolynâs skills are outstanding. She listens carefully to what you want out of your lesson and will assist you on reaching that goal. She is always there to encourage and teach. Teaching and sharing the knowledge she has of horses is something she loves to do. The passion she has for the animals and the humans riding them is exceptional. She has been teaching, showing, and sharing her love of horses for over 35 years.

Carolyn offers a friendly, safe, and fun environment where the very smallest beginner to the more seasoned and older rider continues the learning process with all things horses. Her specialty is helping riders with confidence issues, by using her unique teaching technique and wonderful school horses. To supplement the lesson program, she offers weekly workshops on specific topics (i.e. lounging, in-hand trail, first aid for the horse, etc) and kids' camps are offered in the summer and a new one has been added this winter. Check out the website for upcoming events. First Class Horse Complex is truly a "first class" facility in all aspects.

This is an amazing experience. The trainer's knowledge, philosophy, and patience are first class. The treatment and care of the animals here are top notch as well. These horses are given individualized care and feed customized for their unique needs. Riders are treated the same way. They progress at their own pace and are not pressured or pushed beyond their abilities or stage. Riders are challenged to look within and do their best. Respect for both rider and horse is something that never falters here. You will leave feeling happy. No negativity here, just excellent instruction, encouragement, and horsemanship. I will never go anywhere else for horse lessons or horse care. This barn really is holistically First Class.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Prices for riding lesson start as low as $65.00. Group, semiprivate and private lessons are available. Virtual lessons are also available.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
New students are always welcome at First Class Horse Complex. When a new student arrives their abilities are evaluated and a horse is chosen. The student will then be instructed on grooming, saddling and riding.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Carolyn L. Kakuska, a Certified Instructor, who holds a BA degree in psychology with an emphasis in children and she has a Masters in Education/Equestrian. She has been teaching and coaching students and training and showing horses for over 45 years. Carolyn is a member of the United States Equestrian Federation, a life time member of the Paso Fino Horse Association, the Professional Paso Fino Trainers Association, the United States Dressage Federation, American Competitive Trail Horse Association, Equestrian Professional, the American Quarter Horse Association, the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders' & Exhibitors' Association and the Illinois Dressage and Combined Training Association.
