FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I always try to offer at least two types of fee arrangements: flat, hourly, or contingent. Sometimes, only one is appropriate, but I like to provide my clients with options.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always like to start with an in-person free consultation. At the consultation, we collect some basic contact information, find out about your situation, find out which parts matter most to you, and discuss possible strategies to resolve any issues. We can also talk over the phone or correspond some other way, but meeting in person gives me the best opportunity to understand you and what you're looking for.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Continuing education is very important as a lawyer. The minimum requirement is 30 hours of "CLE" credits every two years and many lawyers do the bare minimum. Personally, I spend closer to thirty hours each year on each area I practice. It's important to me that I'm incredibly knowledgeable at what I do. The law is frequently changing - faster in some specialties than in others - so don't you want a lawyer who stays up to date?
