About this pro
My approach is almost always unconventional but tailored to fit my client perfectly. I believe lighting design is as important as color choice in creating the desired feel and function of a space. In an ideal world, there would be only spaces that uplift the spirit while contributing to physical well-being. My background in green building and restoration of historic buildings in Germany and France gives me a deep respect for existing architectural elements and styles. With this comes the desire to treat buildings holisticly, that is, bringing the interior and exterior into harmony. What I appreciate most about my work is the opportunity to help my clients realize the potentials within their given space. The creative challenge in bringing forth not only the best within that environment but the entire process of making their dreams come true is extremely satisfying.
- What types of customers have you worked with?My Wisconsin projects have ranged from home staging to complete renovations; from a single bathroom transformation to whole house; from home office to commerical office and retail buildings as well as assisted living facilities.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?I recommend that my clients gather photos from magazines that inspire them. Making a list of the features and furniture they have and love and want to incorporate into the new plan on a piece of paper and a list of those things that do not work on another will save time, help in understanding the situation, aid in formulating clear objectives and allow for a reasonable budget to be defined.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project? It is seldom that designers are simply given the keys to the house with instructions "do whatever you want". I believe that to transform clients' dreams into the beautiful and functional spaces they envision, the designer must gain a deep understanding of the client's lifestyle and goals. Ultimately therefore, I view my projects as creative collaborations. Our goals can only be achieved through communication.
