FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes! I attend a 3-day Staging training course for continuing education annually. I also attend the semi-annual 3 day event: The National Accredited Staging Professional Conference. I participate in other single day training courses relating to Staging such as the Sherwin Williams annual color forecast, speaker events by real estate professionals, and more.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
As an interior designer, my first job was with a design company that designed interiors of model homes for builders. This was quite a while ago before the concept of Staging was known in the Midwest. I loved that line of work, and in 2008 I decided to obtain training for Home Staging and shift the focus of my business to Home Staging.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
One of the services that I provide is Home Staging Consultations. A consultation involves a walk-through of the home and recommendations are given to the seller so that they can then implement the steps of Staging. Recommendations are detailed and specific to each home. This is a do-it-yourself kind of approach that is guided by a carefully laid out plan and report given at the consultation meeting. I give easy-to-follow instructions that sellers can then follow to prepare the home before listing. This is a very budget-minded approach to Staging since the seller provides the labor. Another typical project that I do are Vacant Home Stagings - First I create a Staging design plan and then I bring in furnishings and accessories to give vacant homes the "Wow" factor. My Staging assistants and I transform cold, vacant, nondescript, or awkward spaces into warm, attractive homes that buyers can imagine themselves living in.
