Nick worked with a tight timeline and a tight space. He got everything finished to my linking and was very knowledgeable! Would definitely work with his team again.

Hired on Thumbtack

By far the worst experience I have had doing any project in my house. A small bathroom took them about two months to complete since they made me order all the materials and didn’t specify what kind. So, once I ordered it and had it delivered, they told me that it was not going to work and needed to return those to get different ones. On top of being time-consuming, I had to pay a 25% restocking fee and they told me it was not their fault; it is the customer’s responsibility. Even after that whole time, once I ordered, they took forever to install, and once they sent someone to start, that person did everything wrong and needed to send a new person to fix all of it. Horrible process; my bathroom doesn’t even look like it was done by a company that did it and more like a DIY. I am pretty sure I am going to have to hire someone else down the road to fix their work.

Hired on Thumbtack

I hired Nick and King Stud Carpentry to skim coat my walls, resize a window, and install weather stripping on a door. He quoted a two-week timeline for the work, but it ended up taking 10 weeks, and I had to hire another contractor who took an additional 2 weeks to fix his mistakes. The work was absolutely unacceptable. The window was installed with a ridge on the exterior and no proper slant, causing water to accumulate and leak behind my siding. His team sealed the window weep holes with an entire tube of silicone and even drilled their own holes into the window, which impeded the window track, making it difficult to operate. Additionally, when removing the old window, they broke the original 95-year-old window sill. Although Nick mentioned this might happen, he failed to inform me that replacing it would cost extra—a cost I assumed was included in the original quote. The walls were poorly done: not even remotely straight, with no bead corners, cracks throughout, all while leaving behind a mess. The weather stripping was installed incorrectly too, so much so that the door doesn't shut properly. When I raised these issues with Nick, he brushed them off. It wasn’t until several other contractors evaluated the work that I fully understood the extent of his negligence. The project felt rushed, despite taking five times longer than promised, and was completed with zero regard for quality. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Kind Stud Carpentry for any job.
