FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We charge approximately $50/hour for residential design services. After the initial free consultation we'll send a proposal/contract with an hourly not-to-exceed fee schedule billed on a monthly basis or at the end of significant project milestones. We find that customers like the hourly not-to-exceed fee structure because they only get charged for hours we spend designing the project and establishes an upper limit to protect them from high design fees. Schedule your free consultation today to get your fee estimate!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We start with a free consultation to determine if Platform House Plans is the right fit for the project. Next, we'll conduct research by checking building code, zoning code, and existing conditions to make sure the project is feasible. If the project is feasible we'll dive into the design phase, working with clients to establish a design solution that meets all their needs. Once the design is finalized we'll draft construction documents that can be used to receive planning approval, secure a contractor, and obtain a building permit. Lastly we offer construction administration services to support the project during the construction process. This workflow is the typical full-service residential design package. We also offer custom services if, for example clients simply need some advice, or intend to complete some work themselves such as selecting finishes.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The founder and residential designer has architecture degrees from Milwaukee Area Technical College and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Before starting Platform House Plans LLC he worked in architecture firms in the Greater Milwaukee Area and Chicago for six years. All this education and experience adds up! We have the expertise to get your project from dream to done.
