Friendly, Personalized Online Japanese Lessons from a Native Kyoto Teacher ************************************************************************************** Hello, my name is Miho. I’m originally from Kyoto, Japan, and I have been teaching Japanese in the United States since 2007. I work with students of all ages and backgrounds, from young children to business professionals and senior executives. My lessons are personalized to each student’s goals, learning style, and pace, whether you are studying Japanese for travel, work, school, family, or personal enrichment. I currently offer online lessons only. My teaching style is interactive, practical, and encouraging. I focus on helping students build real communication skills, not just memorize vocabulary or grammar. I want each lesson to feel structured, useful, and enjoyable. Because I learned English as an adult, I understand how challenging and rewarding it can be to learn a new language. I bring patience, clarity, and support to every lesson, and I work hard to create a comfortable environment where students can grow with confidence. After taking time to focus on raising my children, I am now accepting new students again. I would be happy to help you reach your Japanese language goals.

Miho is a great teacher! She immediately welcomed me warmly after I expressed my nervousness. I've been studying Japanese for awhile, but don't have many people to talk to. So, I wanted to have specialized conversation help with a focus on grammar. We were able to chat freely because she catered the lesson to my interests, too. A+++ sensei :)

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The first lesson is offered at a $5 discount as an introductory rate. I also provide 10-lesson packages at a further discounted price for students who wish to commit to ongoing learning.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer a discounted first lesson to determine if we are a good fit. During this session, I will ask questions about your goals, interests, and learning preferences to design a lesson plan tailored specifically to your needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
While I do not hold an official teaching certification, I have extensive experience working with students of all ages and backgrounds. This practical, hands-on experience enables me to effectively address each learner’s needs and adapt my teaching to help them achieve their goals.
