Introduction: My name is Mikail. I am a certified teacher and I taught special education at Granite School District for 8 years. I recently decided to take some time off to stay home with my two daughters. In 2006 I earned a bachelor's degree in English, and in 2011 I received a master's degree in Special Education from the University of Utah. I also have endorsements in deaf education and mild/moderate disabilities. I am also certified in an Orton-Gillingham based reading program. I have personally seen my students make tremendous improvements in their reading abilities as I have used this approach.
I have a passion for education and I love working with kids. As I have worked with diverse learners over the years, I feel that my experience has provided me with the tools necessary to tailor instruction to the specific needs of my students. The methods I use are evidence-based and are highly effective. I engage students on multiple levels by encouraging the use of their senses(auditory,visual,kinesthetic/tactile). I have a wide range of experience working with students of many different abilities and ages, in small groups and on an individual basis.
I love working with children. I especially enjoy watching them learn and grow.
