FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Stock designs have base prices with adjustments for wood type, modifications, etc. Estimates are given for custom design work.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It all starts with dialog leading to a mutual understanding of the essence of the project. Considerations are utility, desired design elements, cost, time frame, scale, the space where the project will reside.... then renderings and more dialog. Of course, some clients desire stock items; this is a straight forward transaction.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm pretty much self taught. I learned basic woodworking from my dad. In my teens I designed and built things like speakers and bookcases. At some point I began to notice "cool" things I wanted to build for myself or as gifts, like Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin Lamp. This lead to learning Sketch-Up, refining my wood working skills, and finally the creation of my own designs.
