Introduction: Yoga can be for everyone! My number one goal is to make the practice of yoga accessible and productive for my clients. Whether you are just beginning or have been practicing for years, I can help guide you toward a higher level of strength and ease through a thoughtfully designed, personal yoga practice. I have a special interest in working with new families both before and after babies arrive. I have had some truly amazing teachers since beginning a yoga practice over 12 years ago. I am so grateful to those teachers for the gift of yoga in my life. Since completing my teacher training in the spring of 2015, I have found that nothing compares to helping others find new mobility, strength and comfort in their own bodies. I am especially grateful for how yoga helped me prepare my body and spirit for pregnancy, labor, and motherhood, and am eager to share that strength with other new parents.

I met Gretchen when I was starting my second trimester with a twin pregnancy this past spring. My husband thought private pre-natal yoga sessions would be a perfect way to keep me healthy throughout my pregnancy. Gretchen was amazing to work with! She was friendly, energetic, and had a calming nature. I expected to take 1 session a week with her, but decided to engage in two weekly sessions. I honestly believe that Gretchen is the reason my pregnancy and delivery went so well. After my C-section the doctors told me they had never met a twin mom that was so flexible right after delivery. Gretchen is the reason for that. She not only taught me yoga, she provided mini-massages to help relax my pregnancy aches. She checked in on me regularly if we didn't meet, and she was willing to work with my schedule. She brought the music, equipment, and even recommended better mats to help my practice. I would recommend her to anyone looking for yoga instruction. I will soon be starting post-natal services with her!

Gretchen is just one of those people who instantly makes you feel calm and relaxed. She is very good at corrections as well and I think I was about two inches taller by the end of my session. She is also has a very soothing voice. I'll definitely be back!

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I begin by asking my clients why they are seeking yoga instruction and what they hope to gain from working with a private teacher. I then ask about any illness, injuries or physical limitations the client may have so I can prepare an practice appropriate for their goals and abilities. Each subsequent session will be tailored to the client's specific needs, incorporating more challenging poses and sequences as appropriate.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been practicing yoga since 2002 and completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training at Tranquil Space in Washington, DC in April 2015. I am a registered yoga teacher (RYT) with the Yoga Alliance. I also completed a specialized post-natal teacher training with Carol Collins in October 2015.
