FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have a standard price, but I also feel it is sometimes more important to help people. What thus emerges is a sliding fee scale. Some people incur no more expense than they might with their standard co-pays (i.e. $35 to $40). Others pay me anywhere from $60 to $100, though even here I generally offer discounts for multiple visits, and these often run in the 30-40% range. One of the major reasons I am now operating almost exclusively over the Internet is that this gives me freedom from the overhead of an office -- a savings I can pass on to my clients!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I feel it is imperative for me to understand my client. Thus, even over the telephone, I frequently begin to glean information. I also try to explain as much as possible to my clients. I want them to understand how we can work together, and how the various modalities I may be using will help them. I always welcome questions. If people are confused or uncertain about anything, I am delighted to explain things to them.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My academic doctorate is in piano performance, and that is actually what led me to hypnosis. I became fascinated by "performance anxiety," and I soon discovered that hypnosis could help. My training included private study with two hypnotists as well as a number of seminars and workshops over the years. I was certified by both the International Society for Professional Hypnosis and the National Guild of Hypnotists. I later served as an executive board member and then president of the International Society for Professional Hypnosis. I also noticed that some of my clients were remarkably tense, even after hypnotic induction. This led me to seminars in trigger-point massage and later to private study under a reiki master. I have reached the "Okuden" level, which is one below a true reiki master, but sufficient for me to integrate with my other therapeutic work. Unfortunately, I am now working almost exclusively online, which renders these integrated therapies moot. Aside from these I must point to thirty years of professional experience. I can say with sincere humility that my clients have also taught me!
