Introduction: I stand out from other photographers because not only do I have field experience, I have a Masters in Photographic Media from the Maryland Institute College of Art. I use my formal training in my freelance business to create one of a kind pieces of art. Not only do I have an art education, I have a wide variety of photographic experiences. I've worked for my local newspaper, high end fashion boutiques, small startup companies, and even Hershey. Despite all this experience, my services are extremely affordable. Nicholena photographed my engagement photos as well as my wedding in July 2014. She woke up bright an early and photographed all day from bride and groom getting ready, the ceremony, staged photos, reception and send off. All photos turned out great, and during staged bridal party/family pictures Nicholena was excellent at keeping everybody organized so we could get the photos we wanted in the limited time we had. We were very pleased with the end results and I would definitely recommend Nicholena to anyone!

We hired Nicholena to take family photographs around our neighborhood of our family of four-- me and my husband, and our 2 and a half year old and 7 month old. Nicholena arrived a few minutes early and was very personable and kindly dealt with the chaos of getting the two little ones out the door. She was very friendly, polite, and professional. She began taking pictures almost immediately on our walk to our desired location, which resulted in some nice candid photos. Our toddler wasn't too happy with his picture being taken and refused to cooperate. Nicholena was still able to get some good shots of each member of our family alone or in small pairs, but not a great one of the four of us or the two kids alone. She didn't really engage much with the children and I wonder if that may have helped our toddler, but who knows. We are definitely happy with the pictures we did receive and they look excellent. She also had a quick turn around time for receiving the photos (about two weeks). All in all, I would recommend Nicholena.

Toddlers can definitely be hard to work with, especially when they're having a particularly off day, but together we did our best and I'm glad you like the photos!

We had a pregnancy announcement photo shoot done with Nicholena, and I can honestly say it was by far the worst day for us to shoot, it was so windy that I was close to falling so many times, but it was the first sunny day in forever so we took advantage, however with such horrid conditions she was such a sport and an absolute pleasure working with, and really worked with us and the weather conditions, and did the best she could in such a circumstance! Loved how the pictures came out though! Can't wait to work with her again❤️

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I evaluate each case based on the amount of time and expertise that will be required for the job. I also don't have a fixed price because I like to work within my clients' budget- I understand the desire for quality photography at a flexible price. This does not mean that I undervalue my services, only that I put making my clients happy at the top of my to-do list.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to meet with my clients before the session, but that's not always possible. If we can't meet, we can talk by phone or Skype. I love seeing examples of photography that my clients love, so that I can get an idea of their ideal vision. I then strive to produce a product that fits that ideal vision.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master of Fine Arts in Photographic and Electronic Media from the Maryland Institute College of Art, one of the top 10 art schools in the nation. I have worked professionally as a photographer for the Post-Journal, South Moon Under, and I currently work for Lou Lou Boutiques, a Middleburg-based women's accessory brand.
