FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
There are three different types of fee. There is touch up tuning, which is a thorough touch up of a regularly tuned piano. This takes up to two hours. There is a retune which happens when the piano needs to come back from two years or so of not having a tuner out. There is also cleaning and regulation. Regulation needs to happen when there is lost action, sticking keys and other acceleration issues.. filing the hammers is also an option. This will need to happen if the piano is played hard and often and has deep grooves in the hammers. Key top replacement is another option. String replacement if there is damaged or broken strings. Stretched or rusty strings. Painting the case and refurbishing the works is only limited to imagination and finances.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Each new piano I see will need a good once over to evaluate condition Tune and regulation. Then I will make the proper adjustments and tune. I then have in my notes what your piano is about. This system allows for quick and affordable subsequent tunings.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Industry experience in factory and showroom floors. Tuning fine stage pianos.
