I hired Mike Cavender to remodel my Kitchen. I had planned on doing it myself but as I went forward I realized it was too much for me. Mike was very professional and steered me away from some of the bad ideas that I had in my head! I am very pleased with the outcome and the price was reasonable. We had a slight delay waiting for some special order tile but everything else went smoothly. I am planning a bathroom remodel for next year and I hope he is available for that job as well!

We have used Mike several times for different projects! He is always professional completes projects in a timely manner and his pricing is very reasonable if not better !! Would definitely recommend him

Hired on Thumbtack

BUYER BEWARE!!! Mike was very quick to respond to my inquiry through Thumbtack. He sent his "project manager" Scott out to measure our bathroom floors for a quote. It took a week and 4 phone calls to finally get a quote from Mike. That was my first red flag. I should've known. But the price was great so we scheduled the work for the following week. The day before, Scott called and asked us to move the start date back another week because he wasn't done with a prior job. We agreed on a future date. Scott confirmed his start date and time so my husband took the morning off work to be home on the day of the install. We disconnected plumbing and removed bathroom vanities for him the night prior. He never showed up. Never called. Never apologized for leaving us hanging. His phone was "no longer accepting calls". I called Mike and he said he would look into it but never got back to us other than to say that none of his other guys would be willing to do the work for the price MIKE QUOTED US. Poor business ethics, awful communication and terrible customer service. Stay away!!

Kimberly I am sorry for your confusion and frustration. Our pricing is based on industry standards in order for our company to cover our costs, pay our subs, and return a profit. In some cases, such as yours, were a customer cannot pay the full price, our tradesmen "at their request" may ask to take one of our leads and do the job themselves in order for the customer to save money and stay within their budget needs. This was explained to you after your first meeting with Scott. Scott had agree to do the job for half the price that we would normally charge. I had explained that you would deal with Scott directly in order for you to save money and that his schedule is based on current projects being completed prior to yours. Now I feel terrible that Scott had ended up in the Hospital the day that he was to be at your house. I felt it was important to remind you that the price given was in fact a price agree upon with Scott. We provided a quote that you requested because you called us and told us Scott had not sent you one. Unfortunately at this point we cannot be liable to offer our services to you. You will need to go through Scott as we originally discussed.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Most of our jobs would require an onsite estimate that we provide for free. We do offer discounts on occasion if more than one person in ex. a neighbor would like the same thing!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Normally we meet at the project site to discuss needs, wants, and budget. Then we get to work on making sure all the needs meet the budget!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked in Construction most of my adult life. We work with people who have time under their belt in the trade they are good at.
