Do not pay until the job is done TO YOUR SATISFACTION. I made the very BIG mistake of paying when most of the work had been done based on trust. Then I got a very poorly done patch job which he agreed to fix but then never came back and cut all communication. Now I'm stuck trying to find someone else to finish the job the right way, including an additional hole where he went through my ceiling while in the attic. Job was "done" but never finished.
