Introduction: I am an experienced and talented painter, muralist and art instructor. I love to paint and share my gifts as an artist by making the world a more beautiful place to live. I paint in an expressive and colorful style that people tend to love. When I am asked to do a commission, I listen to the needs of my clients and since my skills are versatile, I can adapt my style to their artistic needs. I paint both abstractly and representationally. I get excellent likenesses as a portrait artist and aim to capture a person's essence and spirit in a portrait. I am willing to consult with my clients and help them choose the theme and/or style of painting that works best for them. I now paint at live events such as weddings, to capture the view and moment. As an art teacher, I care that my students learn and feel successful learning new artistic skills in painting or drawing. I believe in expanding a person's vision by developing their artistic abilities. I LOVE PAINTING. I enjoy new projects and commissions that challenge me artistically. I listen well and strive to match my style to the needs and desires of my customers. Having years of experience in painting and drawing, I can offer excellent advice on stylistic ideas and color schemes. I am talented in capturing likenesses when painting realistically. I paint beautiful abstracts as well. I love painting in all mediums - oil, acrylic and watercolor. I also love interacting with people and helping them achieve the look and quality of art they are seeking, whether it is a commissioned painting, mural or small watercolor sketch.

Abbie's collage workshop was wonderful. After a demo exploring techniques for creating collages, we were encouraged to experiment with the materials and our efforts were rewarded with unique creations. We then put our work up and critiqued it, highlighting what worked well, and why. A lovely afternoon!

I have been aware of Abbie's work for a very long time. She lends a sensitive eye to her critiques and gentle guidance to the new as well as seasoned students of art. Her output is prodigious and I have always found gems to add to my collection, be they miniature water colors on paper or soul wrenching plunges into figurative allegory using oil on canvas.

I hired Abbie to design, paint and assist in the installation of a 8' x 8' mural on a residence near the beach in Milford Connecticut. Abbie spent a great deal of time in the design process making sure that her vision and what I wanted as an end result matched. The finish product is a mural which adds panache to the house which would have been difficult to accomplish in any other way. She captured the feel of the ocean, sky and surrounding beach community where the home is located. In a neighborhood with a steady flow of pedestrians the mural has become a stopping point and conversation piece for all to enjoy. Robert T.

I first saw Abbie's work at Citywide Open Studios in New Haven and loved her style. I followed up with her and attended a collage workshop at her studio. Her holistic approach was impressive and really helped me open up creatively. Looking forward to the next workshops!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I am reasonable, competitive, and flexible. I can work with the budgets presented by my clients.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I talk first by phone to get an understanding of their needs to see if we are a 'good fit'. If they want to buy a work of art we can agree on a price and move forward. If we are talking about a commission, we can meet in person or I can send them sketches for them to see. If we agree on an idea and budget we make an agreement to go ahead with the commission. I get paid an upfront fee for the design and we agree upon a time schedule for completion and payment. I use a written and signed agreement form so that all parties are clear on our expectations. My aim is to please my clients, so I go the extra mile to help make their experience in purchasing a commission painting or a mural to be the most positive experience possible.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have both a BFA and an MFA in painting and drawing. I have spent years perfecting my craft as a painter. I have focused on pleinair outdoor landscapes and portraiture (including caricature). I also work abstractly and have experience painting murals. I am considered a master watercolorist and have over 40 years experience painting with watercolor.
