FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
65$ an hour is usual, if the student comes to me. This includes monologues, (songs if needed), headshot workshop and resume classes. How to find jobs and how to keep working if that's your goal. If I must travel the cost increases to cover expense. I charge less for skype or face time classes as I'm not spending face to face time with student and not as much can be accomplished. I also pro-rate for less class time.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I spend time talking and listening to my perspective students. I also film them during this time if possible. What is it that they want to accomplish? It is important for me and them to understand what it is they are attempting to do. Is it a sudden interest, hobby or could it be a part time or even full time career choice? How much training and work related experience? I usually enjoy working with students who would consider themselves at an intermediate to advanced level. But will work with individuals new to craft who are truly motivated. My goal is to get my students performing on their feet as soon as possible. I include the performers unique background of experiences and emotions to form a strong foundation to build on. That way we are always playing the truth. Some actors feel that acting is losing oneself in a character. I'm of the school of Uta Hagen, who believed that we actually find ourselves there.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've trained in LA. San Francisco, NY. and DC. Among others I've trained with Tom Sheppard, Fred Wientraub, Ed Gero, HB Studios, Colliers, and Shakespeare at the Folgers. I studied at University Nevada/Reno and VCU. I've been directed by many outstanding directors during my career, including Robert Conrad, Phillip Noyce, Todd Holland, Sammy Dallas Bayes, Ernie Zulia, Dennis Edinfeld and Ms. Jennifer Nelson. I've worked in film, stage, radio and belonged to Actors Equity Association, Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Actors. Since 2000, I've trained over 1500 students for Fairfax Academy, Musical Theatre Actor Studio. Ninety six to ninety eight percent of those students have been accepted into the top theatre schools in the US and Europe. But most importantly, I was fortunate to work most of my adult life as an actor/director. I know how to do this for a living.
