Alex is not only a talented chef, he has a personality to match. He treated me and my guests like VIPs and he was kind enough to bring my 11 year old daughter into the preparation and serving of the food. She was on cloud 9 and still hasn't stopped talking about "Chef Alex." Chef Alex is an epicurean genius and a blast to be around! He created a gluten free meal for a family dinner party that was beautifully executed and tasted amazing!! I've never had such amazing gF bread in my life and he baked it in my home. I had a loose idea of what I wanted to serve and he took care of wine pairings, details, and all of the shopping and prep - it was completely stress free. He added a great element to the dinner by adding a bit of panache and stories about some of the dishes - like a chef's table experience. I would highly recommend him again for a larger event but he was absolutely perfect for my family dinner as well!! He's very professional, punctual, organized, budget friendly and listened well to my requests. - What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I prefer to be paid hourly, and I provide discounts for multiple meals.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?New customers usually contact me via email or phone to discuss their events. The first interaction, over the phone or in person, is typically a brainstorming session in which party size, occasion, food and drink preference, and dates is discussed. The amount of client involvement in the process is their prerogative-- some clients like to be very involved, whereas others give me complete creative freedom. For large events, a tasting consultation may be arranged beforehand to allow clients to choose a menu.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I am have a well rounded understanding of nutrition, and have experience facilataing kosher, halal, vegan, heart-healthy, and paleo feasts. I am able to accommodate some allergy restrictions and dietary preferences. These should be brought up in the bid to make sure I have the ingredients. I have studied Artisinan baking, pastry, soups, and flavor dynamics for many of the world's culture. I am not above popcorn, milkshakes and a perfect BLT.
