Introduction: Blending diverse rhythmic and musical styles into the mainstream scene with good taste has been Tim Kane's forte as a songwriter, drummer and educator for more than 30 years. An award-winning musician, Kane began drumming and playing trombone in fourth grade through college. He is certified and course trained in rock, jazz, concert and marching bands. He studied and performed with a jazz quintet at the well-respected Indian Hill Music Center in Littleton, MA and in Fitchburg State University's jazz ensemble and orchestra. Tim is the resident drum instructor at Eagle Hill High School in Hardwick where he implemented an innovative new percussive arts program for special needs students as well as teaching privately in his home studio. His penchant for songwriting began in high school with intense lyric writing and contemporary music piano composition, followed by a journey over the last 20 years playing drums and writing tunes in several all-original alternative rock bands circulating the Boston and Worcester club scenes. In 2012, Tim published a full album of his own making, composing and recording the original songs and playing all instruments. In summer 2015, Tim served as co-host of a Friday night all-original 'Songwriters' Pavilion' in Sturbridge that featured his house band and special guest songwriters. He also plays in the Somerville based alternative original rock band, 'Right on Red', and holds down jazz drums for the Trinity Swing Big Band that plays live in Worcester every Tuesday. Tim continues to perform as a freelance drummer with national and regional touring artists and many local musicians. He expanded his teaching and performance business several years ago to host hand drum percussion circles in private and public settings. Recent clients have included school summer camps, senior citizens, and the Center for Autism Awareness of Central Massachusetts. He currently leads weekly group hand drum percussion circles for special needs senior citizens at the Center of Hope in Southbridge, MA, and for adults of all ages at Hitchcock Free Academy in Brimfield, MA. Drum lessons are not about me. They about you improving your skills. My job is to put myself out of a job.

Drum teaching. Tim has instructed my son Nate (12 years old) for almost 2 years...in that time Nate has made incredible progress......even his school band instructor comments on his improvement. Tim keeps him motivated and is willing to go out of his way to give lessons at our house when we have scheduling conflicts. I couldn't ask for a better teacher for my son.
