Introduction: I'm focused on individualizing lessons to the preferences of the student, working on music the student enjoys while relating it to other materials and theory, keeping in mind that the joy of music is what's important. I teach all kinds of music to all ages at all levels. I'm conservatory trained and have taught both at the college level and privately. I play and teach piano, guitar, bass, drums, ukulele, songwriting, production, theory, basic singing and trumpet, and am also available for performance requests. I'm a proud recipient of Thumbtack's Best of 2016 award!

Chris Doyle is an awesome piano teacher. He is wonderful with kids--encouraging, but never pressuring them. My nine-year-old is fully engaged during lessons, really enjoying the time he spends with Chris, and coming to appreciate music in ways he never had before.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to get to know a student a bit: what they like about music and what they'd like to learn and why. I ask them to play some and I work towards identifying points of interest that can help me connect with them, and help them connect to the music they'd like to be able to play.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelors of Music in Piano Performance from Berklee College of Music Masters of Music in Jazz Performance and Composition from McGill University
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've been a performing musician my whole life and started teaching in my early 20s.
