Introduction: With over 10 years experience in music education, I have been fulfilling my passion in helping students of all ages develop their technique and expand their knowledge in music. When it comes to teaching, I believe that flexibility is key. Adapting to the student’s natural learning pace, nurturing their curiosity, and keeping things fun has always been my style. Along with learning the techniques to play your instrument, we will go over music theory, as well. Incorporation of music composition can be an option for those who feel comfortable with the musical language and wish to write original pieces. While I specialize in classical music, I also cover other genres such as pop, rock, broadway, songwriting, folk, and blues, just to name a few. I really enjoy seeing my students grow in confidence as they master each piece. I take great pride in my students and their growth as musicians and appreciators of music.

Ching taught my 6 year old son violin for the past 5 months. The lessons were once a week for 30-minutes at our home. We really appreciated that Ching was able to come to the home, as it helped my son feel immediately comfortable and at ease. Ching is a very talented musician and a natural teacher. His kind, gentle style worked well for my son, who can be shy around new people. Ching has creative ways for teaching violin techniques and fundamental. He kept the lessons light and fun, without putting pressure on my son, or assigning unreasonable practice "homework". He gives lots of praise and support, in addition to the necessary amount of corrections and coaching. When my son was drawn to a particular song, Ching followed his lead and broke the song into manageable pieces so he could learn it and feel successful. Being young and curious, my son has decided to try another instrument instead of violin, and we are both sad that we won't be working with Ching any longer. I highly recommend Ching as a professional, caring, and gifted teacher.

Ching has been working with my son 13 and daughter 8. He knows exactly how to customize his lesson to each of them so that they stay focused and excited about learning piano. He is always on time and easy to communicate with. We are thrilled to have found him!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For selected neighborhoods in Brooklyn, my rates are: 30 mins. = $40; 45 mins. = $55; 60 mins. = $70. Please look up the rates of your neighborhood on my website!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Before lessons, we will briefly talk about previous experience and day/time preferences. On the first lesson, I like to typically assess and evaluate the student's skill and answer any questions that the student has. For beginners, we will go over the very basics of the of the instrument and lay a firm foundation for technique. By the end of the lesson, you will be able to play a tune from beginning to end!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I went to school at the Aaron Copland School of Music at City University of New York, Queens College. I majored in Music with a concentration in Cello Performance and Music Production.
