Voice Studio of Bryan Lane

Introduction: I'm a vocalist and music professional with a wide variety of experience from the opera stage, to choral and chamber music, to world and pop music. I have performed nationally and internationally as a soloist and bring this experience into my vocal studio. I focus on developing the mind and soul of an artist as well as teaching the fundamentals of vocal technique. I take a personal approach and cater to the individual needs of each singer. My instruction stands out because I'm an active and inquisitive learner myself. I've completed two graduate level degrees in vocal performance, a Masters in Vocal Performance at the University of California Santa Barbara where I taught undergraduate voice for one year, and an Artist Diploma in 17th and 18th century music. As evidenced by my search for knowledge, I have a breadth of skills, information, and a tireless commitment to bettering myself and my teaching which greatly impacts the level of instruction I provide to my students. I'm always thinking about ways to address vocal issues with students and finding appropriate repertoire for you implement and showcase your vocal technique. I am proud to be on the voice faculties of both Westmont College and California Lutheran Univeristy where I train a wide variety of skill levels from beginning singers to vocal performance majors. I maintain an active private studio and have students from all walks of life, ages, and skill levels from the 12 year old beginner, to the European conservatory trained singer, to the amateur retiree looking to maintain a healthy technique and musicianship skill. I also take pride in being a Member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and a member in good standing with the American Guild of Musical Artists. Membership in these organizations certifies that I am both a qualified and dedicated teacher and an accomplished professional singer. I take pride in my ability to make vocal training both educational, fun, and challenging. My greatest joy comes from seeing students express themselves more freely, more easily, and with greater control and precision over their bodies and minds. I love encountering new technical concepts with students, and listening to their feedback to provide the best instruction that I can. Working with the voice doesn't have to be some mysterious and esoteric thing. I love finding ways to communicate the language of singing to my students to help them improve in the most healthful and efficient way possible. I live for the moments when students have breakthroughs and concepts seem to click. It is the best part of what I do.
