FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My standard rate is $140/hr for general work. This includes family portraits, standard portraits, product/food photography, etc. I prefer not to book any session under 2 hours, as the flow of a shoot typically opens up at the one hour mark. Senior Portraits are $120/hr because I personally can't justify taking a ton of money from a young person ready to go to college. 2 hour shoots are still preferred here. Events are $170/hr due to the nature of most events, not being at the pace of any one person. Weddings start at $800, and require a 1/3rd deposit on the date of booking, payment of the balance is due one day prior to the event. Weddings are highly customized and I am happy to go into more detail on a per-client basis. Prints are available upon request.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always like to know what their overall vision for the project is. Nothing is as simple as "taking pictures". I want to customize everything possible so that their experience is truly unique. There are images that you look at and say "good enough" and then there are images that make you want to buy a huge frame and put them in your living room so you can see them every day. I'm not interested in providing the former. Get the frame ready! Another major point for me is over-the-phone or face-to-face consultation. I hold interpersonal communication in high regard, so if I can help it, I like to have at least one in-person meeting with my client before any big project, even if it's in the days leading up to it.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have basic composition and darkroom training, along with extensive photo editing training carried up from high school, and online "classes". I am primarily self-taught, and highly motivated to be creative in new ways whenever the opportunity presents itself.
