Introduction: Depending on your needs, you will be paired with either a certified H.S. teacher or a Clemson Ph.D. student. Together we have nearly 30 years of classroom and one-on-one teaching, tutoring, and test prep experience across a wide variety of subjects. Check out our bios below: About Emily: In 2004, Emily graduated as the salutatorian of her H.S. class, an International Baccalaureate program outside of Greenville S.C. After high school, Emily attended Presbyterian College on a full academic scholarship as a double major in Political Science and Spanish; she received her B.A. in 2008, with honors. She next attended Clemson University to obtain a Secondary Social Studies (9-12) teaching certificate, and is currently a certified high school social studies teacher at NEXT School: Eagle Ridge, located in Salem, S.C. Classes Taught: Global Studies, World History, World Geography, Civics, U.S. History, S.C. History, U.S. Government, and Study Skills. Tutoring & Test Prep experience: Algebra I, Geometry, Spanish, SAT, ACT, literacy skills. About Adam: Adam, an AP student and talented multi-sport athlete in high school, scored a 1410 on the SAT (equivalent to 2010 on new test) and graduated 7th in his class in 2003. Although he was offered multiple academic and athletic scholarships by prestigious universities (ex: University of South Carolina, Emory University, Texas Christian University, Cornell University), Adam deferred college entry in favor of enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. Throughout his military career, Adam served three combat tours and was the recipient of numerous military awards, accolades, and meritorious promotions. During his last year of service, Adam's commanding officer nominated him for officer candidate school. After careful consideration, Adam ultimately decided to end his Marine Corps career to attend college as a civilian. In 2007, he left the Marines as a Sergeant and is currently a Ph.D. student at Clemson University Adam currently holds the following degrees: B.A., Marketing, Marshall Univerity '10, Summa Cum Laude B.S. Psychology & Management Clemson University '14, Magna Cum Laude At the high school and college level, Adam has experience teaching, tutoring, or mentoring in the following subjects: Statistics, General Biology, Research Methods & Scientific Writing, Psychology & Social Sciences, Management, Human Resources, Marketing, Anatomy & Physiology, Logic, Communications, English & Literature, College Skills. We then work each individual to develop a learning and studying plan to best leverages their strengths and adapt our instructional methods to develop their weaknesses.
