FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I find it important that a line of communication is opened as quickly as possible. More than just words typed on a screen. I have found that it's best to have a preliminary interview, consultation. A list of wants and needs over the phone as quickly as possible. That way we can make sure we're both on the same page... right from the start.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an extensive background in art, fashion, design and music. I am a second-generation Baker cake designer and decorator having had had the luxury of learning from a professional from the time that I was born. I guess you could say my baby toys where cake decorating tips and cakes that I could stick my fingers in!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Find someone that you're comfortable with. (especially when it comes to weddings) Comfortable sharing your ideas dreams... your wants and wishes. Make sure the professional is creative and that they don't have a tendency to do the same thing all the time. Or try to talk you into doing what they have a tendency to do for you as a "default client" (that is a hazard in my industry) rather than taking the opportunity to listen to you. And see your vision as the special opportunity that a Cake Designer can have. And share with you and your special occasion!
