Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I am a dual-license certified special education teacher. I specialize in helping children with specific learning disorders, ADHD, written language, and autism. I have built an extensive career in one-on-one and small group tutoring/instruction ranging from K to adults. I love teaching new concepts and working hard to tailor information to the learning needs of my students. I also specialize in CV/resume development and editing. – Prior to teaching, I was an editorial assistant for a major business publication in New York City. I have a passion for helping to “create fine people.” I enjoy seeing my clients grow and eventually master content material which may or may not at one point in time have seemed overwhelming. Likewise, coaching clients to develop their best resumes and cover letters is a very rewarding experience. The goal is to try and help individual clients grow so that they may: “Find their academic (or professional) direction in one day.”

Ian Donlon worked with our son for two years. We can't praise Mr. Donlon enough. He is a an excellent, patient, thorough tutor who recognized students strengths and weaknesses and caters to the particular students learning style. Mr. Donlon is so supportive, encouraging and brilliant. He enjoys every student's success. Our son liked his tutoring with Mr. Donlon because he made it exciting and interesting and managed to make the work less overwhelming/daunting. Mr. Donlon is an all around good guy!

I have worked with Ian as a colleague and I am impressed by his ability to communicate and connect with those he works with. He is a professional with some very profound experience working with kids who need a little help to be successful, but their success, not just learning content, is what he has as his priority and his goal. He will not let you down.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I do not have a standard pricing system for my services. I offer a customized menu of options that allows the client to choose which services are important to their own needs. Some clients want me to help create the perfect resume, others desire direct one on one tutoring instruction. My clients can expect high quality services at a price they can afford.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

My standard process involves a (free) initial meeting with the client to discuss goals and future expected outcomes. Afterwards, I will send out several (electronic) documents that will help us build the perfect resume or supplement the tutoring process (like a pre-assessment of current academic skills.) The client can expect to have a draft of their resume within 48 hours of receiving documents to me or a first face to face tutoring session at a location that works best for the client.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have over eight years of classroom teaching experience in both public and private settings ranging from schools in DC, MD, VA, NY, and CT. I hold two current teacher licenses in: English (Grades 7 through 12) and in Special Education (K through Adult). In addition, I have a master’s degree in Special Education as well as a bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature. From 2008 to 2010, I also worked in the Washington, DC area as a Corps Member/9th grade English Teacher for Teach For America.
