FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I understand that affording an attorney can be difficult. This problem can be even worse when jobs and other opportunities are lost due to having to remain in jail or otherwise be labeled as a criminal unfairly based on unproven allegations. With that in mind, I make every attempt with my clients to be transparent with flat fee pricing (what you see is what you pay, no hidden fees, etc.). I also generally accept a manageable down payment on my fees, and partial payment plans for the rest of the balance.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically, after an initial conversation over the phone, I will have the client come in to the office for a face to face meeting. I often tell my clients that I'm first and foremost there to listen to what they have to say--not just about the case, but the story of who they are and where they are coming from. Only after getting a sense of who my client is can I begin to prepare a defense for them. From there, we will discuss a strategy to best fit the clients needs.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received my undergraduate degree from Cornell University, and I attended the University of Cincinnati College of Law. After internships with the 1st District Court of Appeals and the City of Cincinnati Prosecutor's Office, I became a staff attorney with the Hamilton County Public Defender's Office. It was there I first began developing the skills and making the contacts that would help craft my private practice. Ultimately, after five years, I went out on my own to expand my practice into other venues. I still continue to attend significant training events every year, as I believe you can never stop learning and getting better in this work.
