- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I read a client request carefully and contact them if I feel confident I can tutor them. If the client is a non-native ESL speaker seeking to improve their spoken skills I make sure I am familiar with the structure of their first language because this is productive from the start. I have helped student from many countries and their challenges tend to be in areas of grammar that are nonexistent or radically different. However, the clients' objectives are my top priority.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 20 years teaching experience in ESL, and accent modification training. In addition, I have worked as a technical writer for over 14 years. My writing career gave me the opportunity to write for many different audiences. As a result I an appreciation for the differences in writing to persuade, to instruct, or to inform. Education includes a Masters in Technical Professional Writing, Northeastern University, Boston, MA Certification in Accent Modification, Institute of Language and Phonology, San Francisco, CA
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I lived in Athens Greece for years before moving to Boston and taught ESL to college bound students and young professionals. I then taught at various colleges in the Boston Area.
