FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing depends on the engagement. Most of my representation is priced on a flat fee basis and a smaller percentage is done on an hourly basis.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I'll speak with a prospective client over the phone and then schedule an interview in my office. If it appears that it's a relationship that'll be a good fit for both of us, I'll draft a legal services contract memorializing the scope of the work that I'll perform as well as the legal fees.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated with a criminology and political sciences degree in 1983 from Ohio State. I was awarded my law degree from Capital University Law School in 1987. From the day I was admitted to the profession, all I've done was defend criminal cases. From 1987 to 1995, I was in private practice. From 1995 to 2013, I was a member of the Federal Public Defender's Office for the Southern District of Ohio--I was the Federal Public Defender for the last 8 years of my tenure. From 2013 to the present, I've been a partner at Scott and Nolder.
